Ferry Tales

Fall 2004

Clearwater Revival

This was the best Revival in at least 4 years -- gorgeous weather the entire weekend, the River was brilliant blue with little whitecaps, marvelous music (some of it impromptu right in front of our booth) and great crowds of people coming and going. Thanks to all the booth volunteers: Gerhard and Hale both days from start to finish and also Hale's lovely daughter Anna -- a great help. Jeanne Mikelson, Lionel, Tom Keck, Mary C, Walter and Connie were there Saturday; Dick Manley dropped in for a while, and it was good to see him. Sunday -- besides Gerhard , Hale and Anna -- we had Tom and Bob Reardon. Thanks so much to all of you!

We got back on the water

Again the weather dampened our efforts but we did rig and launch the Ensign and enjoyed a couple sails.

Our plan for 2005

Now that we have a boat we will bring back our member crew to an able level and can resume our Winter Sail Classes to be followed by on the water training sessions; in preparation for our return to our mission of taking people out on the River aboard a traditional looking sloop.

We are planning to hold a Spring get together and Fund Raising event, location to be determined later.

We will also continue to present our message:

"SHARE THE BEAUTY OF THE RIVER"

by participating at various riverside events.

Annual Membership Meeting and Potluck

It will be held October 23, 2004 at 2:00 PM in Randy's Barge at Randy King Marina in Verplank.

The following have indicated their candidacy for the board: Lionel Galibert, Joe Karpel, Connie Kwartler, John Liammari and Duke Maggiola.

The Meeting will be followed at 4:00 PM by a Potluck held jointly with Riverlovers to celebrate their very successful Shadfest and our common love of the River.
