Although we acquired Whimbrel in late Spring, it did not arrive on the banks of the Hudson until mid September and everyone pitched in so it could be launched right away.

We still managed to enjoy a few very nice sails and familiarize ourselves with our new boat that we all love as well as feel it will serve our goal to "SHARE THE BEAUTY OF THE RIVER" very well.

Riverlovers invited us to their Thanksgiving Potluck to help us celebrate our new boat and besides having a wonderful time among friends we shared some ideas for strengthening our common goals.
Our plan for 2006
At our November Meeting we outlined some of our tasks for next year:
Reinstate our successful sail classes: both to get new members and to increase the number and competence of our crew. May be have two shorter sessions.
We also need Booth Coordinator and Volunteers.
Set up Schedules for member sails and group sails for communities leaders and the general public
Revamp our Programs:
Design a program for Adults and/or Higher Education Students from local Universities (Pace, Fordham, etc.)
Seek out Children from local High Schools, (Verplank, Croton, Hendrik Hudson, etc.) especially those in Science classes and interested in Environmental subjects.
Contact local Libraries to find out which of their projects we can participate in.
Set up some Fund Raisers to cover the cost of our Insurance, our mooring at Senesqua and other expenses
Promote those programs thru all available channels
We have to put the yawl boat back in service:
Replace the outboard. Check/Renew Registration.
Inspect and Register the Trailer (Lights, etc.)
.
Our December meeting will not be held at the Nature Center on December 7 but will be replaced by our yearly Board Meeting to be held Saturday December 10 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Randy's Barge in Verplank. The above topics will be discussed. All members are welcome and those wishing to admire Whimbrel can come a little earlier.
